The Great Pumpkin

Saturday marked my first trip to a pumpkin patch in many, many years. I always have an incredible nostalgic yearning for all of the things I did when I was small, and the pumpkin patch was no exception. To finally get to go was just as exciting as I hoped it would be.

The boyfriend was far less picky with his pumpkin selection than I. Determined to find just the right one, we wound up in quite an ambitious trek around the length of farm patch. Eventually, I settled on one (which I named Philip), only for his stem to break off. No other pumpkins compared, and I came to overlook this handicap and take him home anyway.

The patch we went to had a petting zoo, bakery, and a pig show. But despite the tempting food options, such as fresh corn, we skipped eating at the farm and made our way to an adorable 1950s Diner.

It was a supremely lovely afternoon.

Pistol Dreams

Living in a world without art is unimaginable. There is something to be said for communities that can reflect their vibrancy via acrylic paint and an old brick wall. I love being able to walk down the street and appreciate free magic all around me (although I will be paying to see the Picasso exhibit at the SAM this fall).

These photos were taken at and around Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill.  It was another stunning, fall day, and we wandered around the Capitol Hill shops as I admired skirts I couldn't really afford, snapped photos of my lovely city, and ate delicious thai food with the best friend and the boyfriend.

(this is the boyfriend, I like him quite a lot)

Happy Weekend!

Homeward Bound

Desperately in need of a haircut, I wore this outfit home to my parents house yesterday. No, I do not have a hairdresser in Seattle (a very large, and very fashionable city). Why you ask? Because I've been getting my hair cut by the same stylist for five years. We have a hair bond, and I trust no one with sheers to get anywhere close to my mop in less it's her.

My Parent's house is smack-dab in the heart of the suburbs, something I always hated when I was growing up. Going back I can't say I like it any more, but I do like the ease of taking photos. It's a lot less awkward taking pictures in my quite neighborhood than trying to find somewhere semi-private in the city.

Outfit:
Dress - Thrifted, Sweater - Ann Taylor, Boots - Gift, Socks - H&M (menswear)

Before I went to my parent's house yesterday, I had my first day of classes. I'm taking Intro to Poetry, Astrobiology, and Intro to Afram Studies. The campus glowed all day in an early fall haze and the crunch of autumn leaves met the soles of my boots with every step.

Thankfully, my last class got out earlier than expected and as I waited for the bus to my parents house I was able to lounge in the grass, enjoying a wonderful diet coke and a delicious treat from Cupcake Royale.

I am more than ready for fall.

Mountains Beyond Mountains

For being the start of fall, Seattle hasn't started showing its true colors yet. Yesterday was a gorgeous blue sky day full of warmth and sunshine. It was the perfect day for sitting in line with friends and waiting to see some lovely music. I scrambled to the bus stop after work to meet up with my roommates (who had been waiting since 1:30). Their patience paid off, and we ended up nearly front row after the chaos that is entering such a large venue.

The show was breathtakingly beautiful. It was a mix of large screen images, bright lights, stunning music, and an immeasurable amount of stage presence. I had never seen a concert so powerful and life changing. The large screens flashed between shots of the band members and various film footage, both old and new.

Win Butler was all kinds of gorgeous, and I know more than one girl in the audience wished they could have RĂ©gine Chassagne's grace. I was so tickled pink to have been able to experience it. And so very grateful that when I told my boyfriend I didn't really want to go, he didn't listen to me and bought me a ticket anyways. The entire band had an abundance of enthusiasm that overflowed from the stage into the crowd. And if that wasn't enough, Arcade Fire was polite, engaging, and charming to watch dance around on stage.  If Arcade Fire is coming anywhere close to you, it's a show not to be missed.

Here is a taste of the magic:
